At the tender age of 24, Willem Herselman was promoted by IGI Insurance Company to East Griqualand as branch manager Kokstad in Southern Natal. He was destined to climb the corporate ladder, but, in 1993 he decided to rather enter the independent broker market.

He initially joined forces with John Riley Insurance Brokers, Matatiele, to set up a branch in Kokstad. The Kokstad branch grew from strength to strength and in 2006 Willem was offered the opportunity to purchase the Kokstad branch from John Riley Insurance Brokers.

Due to it's location in the South Western region of Kwa-Zulu Natal, the company was registered as South Western Insurance Brokers, Kokstad. The company continued to grow from strength to strength, and apart from Short Term Insurance, also specializes in advising their clients on their Life, Retirement and Investment needs.

In 2011 the Garrun Group purchased shares in the short term portfolio of South Western Brokers, Kokstad, and a new company, SW GARRUN (PTY) LIMITED was formed. SW GARRUN offers a comprehensive range of Short Term Insurance products tailor made to suit their clients needs.

With the benefit of being under one roof, SW GARRUN Insurance Brokers and South Western Brokers Kokstad, managed by Orrin Shand, are able to offer their clients holistic financial planning to cover all their long and short term needs.
