Cape Town based Protektum Brokers was founded in 1989. Six years later, the company took the strategic decision to change its name to Primak Brokers in 1995.

The business was founded and established by Johan Priem (Snr) who has served the short-term insurance industry for a period spanning over 44 years. Priem started his career with a leading insurer where he served in various positions. He then applied his experience in a brokerage venture that eventually became a national organisation that later merged with other brokerages to become one of the largest organisations in South Africa. Priem was appointed Director of Marketing and Operations before eventually resigning to pursue his own interests.

From the outset, corporate and commercial business has been the core of Primak’s business, coupled with a personal touch. The firm enjoys the support of a wide range of businesses, ranging from a government contract to the largest wine cellar in the southern hemisphere.

In 2009 Primak joined the Garrun Group where they share in the financial security and wealth of knowledge and experience that the Group network enjoys.
