In July 2003, the Garrun Group established a permanent presence in Tshwane following the acquisition of several smaller brokers. Two years later, the company merged with Custos Insurance Brokers and was re-branded as Garrun Pretoria.

Recognising horticulture as a major industry in the region, Garrun Pretoria has elevated this sector to a divisional level. Willem Heus, who runs the unit, has specialist horticultural skills that he acquired while spending many years in Europe. This approach is consistent with the Group’s “national strength, local signature” promise, whereby coverage solutions are developed to meet unique local needs and are supported by a larger entity at the national level.

Heus is supported by Krijn Hamelink, who has a 34-year track record in commercial insurance, and Hein Rietman who previously ran the treasury department at Imperial Bank.
