A former celebrated Kwa-Zulu Natal rugby player and farmer, Rex Greyling became involved in the financial services sector when he bought the Kokstad-based insurance company, Herring Estates, in 1990.

In June 2003, Greyling acquired East Griqualand Insurance Brokers (EGIB) and a year later the firm merged with the Garrun Group to form EGIB Garrun.

EGIB Garrun provides a comprehensive range of short-term insurance products, mainly to independent businesses. Given the agricultural nature of the firm’s two branches, namely Kokstad and Himeville, farm insurance is a primary offering

EGIB Garrun is also an active corporate citizen, sponsoring a local golf tournament and contributing to the Child Welfare Society and old age homes in their areas of operation.
