Mervin Curnow began his long career as an insurance broker the moment he finished school. Today Mervin and his wife, Lyn, have been running their Port Shepstone-based business since 1984

Curnow Garrun was formed in 2002, the same year that their son Craig joined the family team. In March 2003, Curnow Garrun went on to expand its local footprint and established a presence in Margate under the name of Status Garrun.

The Curnow’s have a long history on the South Coast and are active members of the community. Mervin and Lyn have held various roles in the Port Shepstone Lions Club and hold a number of other positions at a local level. Their sense of community extends to their staff, a large number of whom have enjoyed many years of service at Curnow Garrun and are equally prominent members of the community.

Curnow Garrun’s staff compliment stands at 30 and clients include the largest independent supermarket company in South Africa plus two of the largest time share companies who operate in both South Africa and Namibia. The firm still services many of its original clients, even those who have since left the South coast vicinity.
